Friends, Family, & Patrons of the Sunset Drive-In
We would like to address the current issues affecting our business and the reasons why we feel strongly about not opening at this time. We believe that not only is this virus deadly but also mentally draining for mankind itself. We have discussed many times over the pros and cons of reopening our business at this time. However we have come to the realization that it is just not safe to do so. We know that we have customers that travel up to several hours away just to enjoy the environment and nostalgia of the the local drive-in. This also means that even if you “stay in your vehicle” as much as possible and you follow the rules that does not mean that others around you will be as considerate to do so. Having this knowledge of those who possibly won’t follow the rules makes it impossible for us to open during this time. We refuse to be looked back at many months from now as the business that became a breeding ground for community spread of this virus. We simply care too much for everyone’s safety to risk it even if it means that we have to lose an entire seasons worth of income for our family. We are taking a stand to stay closed at this time for the safety of everyone. We personally know how much devastation this virus can cause therefore we do not want to be the reason why it spread even more. We love you all and we pray that everyone stays safe and healthy during this time of turmoil. Once all is right with the world and it is safe again, then and only then will we reopen our business. Until then just try to stay calm, enjoy your family, love one another as if it’a your last moment together. We will reopen as soon as it’s safely to do so. That will be a very happy day but until then stay safe.
